About Colleen Odell, MS, LPC

In counseling and psychotherapy, the focus is all about you; but sometimes people want to know something about the mental health professional they are working with. Here’s a little bit about me and my background:

LICENSE & CREDENTIALS

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, and I am certified as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors. I am also a Certified Instructor with the Prevention Research Institute. I have in-depth experience providing mental health counseling, relationship counseling, grief counseling, group therapy, behavioral health assessments, and substance use treatment in agency, academic and independent settings.

CLINICAL SUPERVISION

I provide Clinical Supervision for registered interns seeking LPC licensure. I have also provided clinical supervision for student interns and practicum students, and have taught assessment and counseling skills to graduate counseling students.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

I have a Master’s Degree (MS) in Counseling from Portland State University’s CACREP-accredited Counselor Education program. My internship in Counseling and Behavioral Health was completed at Oregon Health & Science University’s Behavioral Health Clinic in Portland, Oregon. My continuing education includes extensive training and study in mental health treatment, couples counseling, family counseling, and substance use treatment.

Stick PathLEADERSHIP & SERVICE

It is my heartfelt belief that good mental health, personal well-being and healthy relationships are essential to every person’s quality of life. Therefore, my leadership and service work focuses on ensuring that mental health services are available and accessible to all Oregonians who need them.

I am a current member and former Board Member/Executive Officer of the Oregon Mental Health Counselors Association (OMHCA), and an active member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association. I am also a member of the Oregon Counseling Association (ORCA). Please phone me at 503-545-6312 or email me for more information about the mission and activities of these organizations.

I adhere to multiple Codes of Ethics, including the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists; the National Board for Certified Counselors; and the American Mental Health Counselors Association.

CONSULTATION FOR PROFESSIONALS

I provide consultation for mental health professionals who are working with difficult cases, including cases that are complicated by substance use, subtle addictions such as co-dependency, or dual diagnosis issues. I provide support and consultation for practice-related issues such as professional burn-out, compassion fatigue, and secondary traumatization. I also provide consultation for practice development, and administration and practice management issues.
